Desegregation of Schools in Ohio

A Story Worth Telling
Animation
Motion Graphics

This animation focuses on the history of the desegregation of schools in Ohio, and its lasting effects on present-day students. Narrowing this broad topic down to schools in Cleveland, OH, four college students share their experience on what it was like attending those now desegregated schools.

This animation uses rhetoric to appeal to the emotions of high school students. This approach allows them to recognize segregation in their schools, and then take the appropriate steps to make everyone feel included. Upon presentation, the Ohio History Connection decided to include this video in their education programs. This project was a result of a collaborative effort between myself and my two peers: Emma Peters and Cindy Kao.

I was mainly in charge of editing the audio and video within the animation. I also created the background graphics that included architecture. Other smaller roles included helping write parts of the script and animating a few of the scenes.
