App Design

Design Media II
Welcome to Pocket Planner! The app that creates one digital space that enables users to successfully manage their tasks while also keeping the design simplistic and easy to navigate. Here, users feel in control of their schedules, know what their tasks are, and where they need to be. This project was a result of a collaborative effort between myself and my two peers: Ran Ren and Philip Cress. The general research, planning, conceptualization, and testing were carried out as a role.

My specific role included naming and designing the final visual mark for this project. In addition, the overall look and feel of the app were co-designed by both me and Ran Ren.
Problem
As college students, it is challenging trying to schedule a week’s worth of information; like knowing what time classes are, what homework is due for each class, and when to plan essential meetings. Currently, no single app/website alone successfully manages all of these things in a digestible and easy-to-use way. It would be helpful for students to plan their tasks and schedules, including classes, homework, meetings etc, from one single app/website.
How can we design an interface in which students would only have to take a couple of seconds to memorize and plan a week's worth of their schedule?
Important Aspects
It is important to create one digital space that enables users to successfully manage their tasks while also keeping the design simplistic and easy to navigate. Users should feel in control of their schedules, knowing what their tasks are and where they need to be.
Key Outcomes
All students will have the opportunity to manage their tasks/schedules in one single app, instead of jumping from one app to another.
